We will review psychological, biological, and social aspects of hoarding disorder.  We will discuss the efficacy of specific treatments, and review the major elements of cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) 

Presentation Goals: 

  1. Discuss the biological and psychological mechanisms underlying hoarding disorder.
  2. Identify effective treatments for hoarding.
  3. Name the major elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy for hoarding disorder. 

Dr. David Tolin is the founder and director of the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Institute of Living. A leading expert in hoarding disorder, he is the co-author of the books "Buried in Treasures: Help for Compulsive Acquiring, Saving, and Hoarding" and "CBT for Hoarding Disorder: A Group Therapy Program."  He was the first psychologist featured on the A&E series "Hoarders" He serves as the principal investigator for the National Institute of Mental Health and is the author of over 150 scientific journal articles.
