We are so sorry not to be seeing you at the NAPO2020 Conference. The Virtual Chapter stepped in and we will have a Virtual Chapter meeting on Monday, April 13, at 7:00 PM Eastern time, where 5 of your NAPO VC board members will participate on a panel on Virtual Professional Organizing. This meeting is free to all NAPO members and will be accessible through NAPO University as part of the free offerings for NAPO members. to see the April 13 overview and to register click here: https://napovc.com/.
While we are all concerned with the coronavirus, we POs have always had concerns for our own safety. Recently I was completing a move out when the ex-wife came running in and started throwing herself at the wall and sliding down onto the floor. Her mother was with her and calmed her down. Now my intake procedure includes asking: Who else has a key to this house?
Another house had a weird smell. One of my team identified it as meth. I did not ask how she knows that. We didn't address that room and ended the project.
I have been attacked by a client's cat. Since they all usually love me, I didn't realize he was sizing me up to pounce. Many bloody and swollen claw marks later I now have added to my contract that all animals must be secured.
If there are critters or bugs, I won't go in, period. And hand sanitizer has been in my car, my bag, my briefcase, everywhere since way before this health scare.
As Sergeant Phil Esterhaus used to say on Hill Street Blues: BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!
Remember—to earn a CEU, you can join the monthly NAPO Virtual Chapter Book Club meeting facilitated by Denni Dattilio. You can register for the next Book Club meeting on our website www.NAPOVC.com. LastPass – You’ll need to remember only one password.
LastPass is a freemium password manager that stores encrypted passwords online. There is also a paid upgraded version I prefer. You can install the LastPass manager in your browsers and also as an app on your smartphone.
Here are some of the benefits of using a password manager:
- All your passwords and digital assets are ORGANIZED in ONE place; sort of like we tell our clients how to organize the stuff in their lives.
- You’ll save a tremendous amount of time every day by having passwords and other vital information in ONE place—all at your fingertips.
- No more resetting passwords each time you can’t remember one—another time saver.
- You know exactly where to look when your IT professional needs a password to fix something on your computer or in the cloud, saving YOU time and money.
- You can store credit card information to quickly pay for things online with just a click or two without having to manually key in this information each time. Yes, it is secure.
- Your level of cybersecurity will be increased, lessening the chance of your accounts getting hacked.
- You can share passwords with family members or employees—with or without letting them see the password—giving emergency access to loved ones or business partners to all of your accounts if and/or when something happens to you, saving them a lot of time and eliminating the stress.
I have used LastPass for years for both personal and business. I set up each of our employees on this tool and share passwords to accounts for which they need access.
Getting passwords organized always seems to be something people don’t take the time to do. If you are sequestered at home right now due to COVID-19, you may have a bit more time on your hands. This would be a great project to tackle for your business. You won’t regret the time you spend on this!
